Napowrimo Day 3: Fourteener

Today’s prompt is to write a fourteener, or a poem with fourteen syllables in each line. Here’s mine.

“unrequited”

disappointment had become part of her daily routine
threw away her love twenty something fairytales ago
staunched the bleeding just enough to keep her robot living
that man—her lifesaving melody and her biggest foe
unwritten letters he’d never sent collected in drawers
each night she’d cry them like lullabies ‘til she fell asleep
come morning she’d wake to imagined love notes that he wrote
silent text messages and unanswered emails she’d keep
