Napowrimo Day 4: Loveless Love Poem

Prompt today: write a poem about love without using the word love or any of the clichés attached to it. This one’s hard! So, this one’s just about how I imagine it’s like to realize you’re in love, or how you realize you want to marry that person. But what do I know? *shrugs*

gliding on oil slicked streets
til the wall comes up one day
he breaks your fall
you risk it all
and in the end you’ve found
a golden thread in the hay

thudding drums in the stillness
til the dull becomes exciting
silence croons
a favorite tune
and the predictable life
crescendos into being
