Happy Easter! Haven’t had much time today, so I’m not completely satisfied with today’s poem, plus the prompt was pretty challenging. Nevertheless, I am committed. Today’s prompt is to take an Emily Dickinson poem and write your own poem from it.
Here’s the one I chose:
Wild nights – Wild nights!
Were I with thee
Wild nights should be
Our luxury!Futile – the winds –
To a Heart in port –
Done with the Compass –
Done with the Chart!Rowing in Eden –
Ah – the Sea!
Might I but moor – tonight –
In thee!
And here’s my remix of it:
Wild nights we were
Wild nights!
I with thee
on wild nights we loved
and bathed in
our own luxuryFutile the memories
the winds of time raged
you left this heart in port
So I tossed the compass
Tore the chart
Ceased navigating to youIt was like rowing in Eden
You were untamable as the Sea
I ever craved more
You offered but one night
So I cleft my heart from thee!
