Napowrimo Day 16: Terzanelle

Today’s prompt: write a terzanelle, a pattern that goes: ABA bCB cDC dED eFE fAFA or fFAA. The middle line of each triplet is supposed to be repeated as the last line of the following triplet.

I don’t know what it is with my fascination for good girl and bad boy stories or for good girls gone bad.

a good girl from birth, frustrated and torn
she stepped across the line drawn in the sand
and that is how this bad girl was born

suppressed the madness ‘cause free expression was banned
they told her the sadness meant shame
she stepped across the line drawn in the sand

‘twas mid May when the gentleman a-courtin’ came
they stopped her from dancing with him and when she cried
they told her the sadness meant shame

she wrote her feelings in a song of goodbye
‘cause they kept saying this love was all sorts of wrong
they stopped her from dancing with him and when she cried

bitterness and jealousy seduced her to break the rules
a good girl from birth, frustrated and torn
‘cause they kept saying this love was all sorts of wrong
and that is how this bad girl was born
