Napowrimo Day 10: Write a poem that starts from a regional phrase, particularly one to describe a weather phenomenon.
thought I was the chosen one.
the Sun would serve me lemonade,
slather coconut sunscreen on my golden skin, but the sky had other ideas.
Heaven cast May Gray into the leading role. she ruled my life with miserable mornings. kept me in a foggy haze. confused. directionless.
questioned myself and my talent.
Heaven tired of her drama
but replaced her with a diva.
nothing pleased June Gloom. she stormed
away but always returned the next day. brought me down with her jealousy.
cut my throat, slashed my foot.
I could no longer stand on stage
but that’s show biz.
