Write a poem that engages with another art form.
I’ve admired her storytelling technique
since we were just
two awkward prenagers
navigating the halls of 6th grade
we both lived in our imaginations
and longed to make the invisible seen
I required a million combinations
of the same black and white symbols
to create
but she was a different kind of poet
coffee stains and ink fueled her mind and her hands
she used them to carve pictures on white paper
captivating an impatient audience
with no desire to waste time staring
at the alphabet
she spun tales in our heads
with nothing but silence and glances
